In 1947 the buildings formerly known as the SPF Hostel (Schools Patriotic Fund Hostel) and former Cheer Up Hut were converted into a migrant hostel. It was officially renamed the Immigration and Reception Depot, Elder Park in August 1948.
Francis Murphy, Adelaide’s first Catholic bishop, arrived on 6 November 1844, shortly after his consecration as Bishop on 4 September of the same year.
