Unveiled

At the unveiling on 11 August 1894 military bands played and children from schools within the Adelaide City Council area sang the ‘Song of Australia’.

Queen Victoria statue unveiled

The statue was unveiled to a large crowd on 11 August 1894

Adelaide’s first synagogue opens

On 9 August 1850 Adelaide’s first synagogue was opened on acre 37, Rundle Street east. It was erected by the Adelaide Jewish Congregation. The congregation soon outgrew these premises and in 1870 a foundation stone was laid for a larger synagogue next door.
