HomeThingsStanding Work No. 3

Before Standing Work No. 3 was cast into cast iron, it began as a cardboard form of a piano. Despite having the weight and strength of iron, the final work retains the lighter surface qualities of cardboard. The iron copy captures the manipulation of the cardboard and the damage and repairs made during attempts to ‘play’ the piano in its cardboard state.

Located in Goodman Crescent and suitably next to the Elder Hall and Conservatorium of Music, Standing Work No. 3 was purchased by the University of Adelaide from the Greenaway Art Gallery in 2011. Dady was born in England and trained in sculpture in the United Kingdom and Australia. He currently lectures in sculpture and drawing at the Adelaide Central School of Art.
