Known as the Iron Stores, the semicircular warehouses were the first waterfront warehouses in the colonyโ€”prefabricated in Britain, the Iron Stores were shipped to South Australia on the Buffalo in 1836 and erected at the old port, upstream of todayโ€™s Inner Harbor. The Iron Stores were shifted to Nile Street after the Port moved to its current location in 1840.
