History

Menu produced for the Adelaide Steamship Co. Ltd. SS Allinga for Christmas 1901. 

Significance

Souvenir menus were a popular way for passengers to remember their journeys.  The Adelaide Steamship Company was Australia’s largest shipping company and one of South Australia’s most successful business ventures. 

Description

Printed decorative menu showing a picture of the SS Allinga on the cover and the message ‘With the compliments of the season’ in the top left corner. The font is blue and gold on white paper, with red decorative features on the front of the card. There is a space at the bottom of the card front for a guest’s name to be written. Inside the card a full Christmas menu is listed, and on the back the names of the Adelaide Steamship company staff of officers and general manager.
