History
This is a sample of Queen Adelaideโs hand-writing, presented to the Art Gallery of South Australia in 1935 by Miss Blanche Perry-Jones. Marked โ10/6โ in pencil on the back of the card. ย Insured at the time for 10 pounds. The card was transferred to the History Trust of South Australia, now History SA, as part of the Historical Relics collection in 1984.
Significance
Thisย devotional card is one of many items donated to the Historical Relics collection in 1935 as part ofย celebrations for the Silver Jubilee of George V. It reflects the British heritage ofย South Australia, and the attitudes of many South Australians at the time who felt a sense of belonging to the British Empire.ย
