Home โ€บ Things โ€บ Stag Hotel

This impressive landmark hotel of the Queen Anne style, rebuilt in 1903, was first licensed in 1849. The hotel conveys flamboyancy with its tiled roof, dormer windows and corner turret. Up until 1884, the Stag, with its dance and concert hall to the rear, was an institution. But when, for the first time concert halls and theatres were required to be licensed, the Stag did not meet the new regulations and was closed down. The Stag Hotel closed again more recently, in April 2015.
